What is the purpose of Fitrana
Every Muslim is obliged to make a payment of Fitrana at the end of Ramadan as a token of their thankfulness to Allah (SWT) and all that He has given them. This payment ensures that all followers of Islam can celebrate Eid, the festival of breaking the fast, along with other Muslims around the world.
“The Prophet of Allah enjoined Zakat-ul-Fitr on those who fast to shield them from any indecent act or speech, and to provide food for the needy.
It is accepted as Zakat for the one who pays it before the `Eid prayer, and it is Sadaqah for the one who pays it after the prayer.”
